The opera is based on a combination of two mythological stories involving the cyclops Polyphemus: His killing of Acis and his being blinded by Ulysses. The last of five operas Porpora composed while residing in London, the opera premiered on 1 February 1735 at King's Theatre, and featured the famed castrato singers Farinelli and Senesino. Polifemo was Porpora's second-most popular opera, after his Arianna in Nasso. Polifemo, La Unión Valle del Cauca. fotografía en general, ilustración digital , caricatura, pintura, dibujo. The funny thing about a lot of South American 1970s "prog" is that the wide range of cultural and international influences often make it sound as though it's from another planet! Like with this, the style is both pretty mainstream: typical Latino cultural references, and quite a broad range of US influences from West Coast psychedelia to Country music. But the way they put it together and/or juxtapose these elements makes it all very different. So, what we have here is an album that's kind of prog and isn't, sounds 60s although instrumentally it's obviously 70s. A curio, however I like the cover more than the music!
