It was released on June 15, 1999. In a 2008 interview with British rock magazine Kerrang, guitarist Wes Borland said the following about how the lyrical content turned out: The music was cool, but I didn't like the lyrics at all. The funny thing is that Nookie was actually the working title. When we were in the studio there was a porn magazine that had the word 'nookie' on the cover, so I was like, 'This song's. The cheesiest and most boring release out of this label EVER! Totally garbage. I cannot understand why is this so sought after and loved. 1408 people want and 1168 people have this shit? really??Reinforced should have been very embarrassed releasing this, when they had put out TOP records, to name a few ''4 Hero - Cooking up ya brain'', ''Manix - Rainbow people (original and remixes)'', ''Nebulla II - Antheama'', ''Nasty Habits ‎– As Nasty As I Wanna Be'', ''4 Hero - Journey From The Light (original and remixes)'', ''Manix - Heading to the light (original and remixes)'' ''Ruffige cru - Darkrider and Crisp Buiscuit Ep's'' ''Nick•O•D* ‎– Spam vol 1 & 2 Eps'', ''Enforcers Ep's'', ''Tek 9 ‎– Just A Dream'' and the list can go on, and on.Avoid like a hell!!!

100% agree with you Danny. This guy must be the ONLY person I ever knew hated Gonna Be Alright/Sound Of Music. In its time it was one of the biggest tunes and still is.If your part of the 1% who doesnt like it (each to their own) then go find a forum who agrees coz you wont find any here.In my opinion I only feel Gonna Be Alright but others love Shining in the darkness etc.Wicked release! Milestone in hardcore!

Wow you are one negative blurt. It's all about perspective. Shining in da darkness was a key track for me.try commenting on things u like rather than chatting shit about what others perceive a classic

'Gonna Be Alright' remix is Donovan 'Bad Bwoy' Smith's signature tune! Always reminds of him. ;)

Oh yes!! this is one of the best vinyl's ever made.

Real mixes messages. Tracks A1 & B1 are the headliners here. Rave was already dead by April 1993 and the tracks here were a little behind the trend of 93 being harder, darker with a jungle drum pattern developing. Great release and I have yet to catch a good copy, certainly not worth slating.
Thoginn Thoginn
again gotta agree. What are you on about Siman91? Hardcore was still well alive through 93 and 1994.Bet you feel silly for posting that now! ;)

The rave scene wasn't dead by April 1993. What a stupid comment from someone who quite clearly hasn't a clue what he's talking about.

devotion pisses all over everything, what a fuckin tune :)

Says a guy with Scooter- Ramp on his wanted list!!! ????????????????

Over rated, well over played, utter cheese shite, beginning of the end of rave???? How can you use these descriptives regard a Reinforced Records classic - 93 the year of darkness who else other than Nookie could bring the light with pianos and vibes...I hope when people right reviews on tunes from years gone by they don't try to compare the tune with todays production standards/ controlled expertism (should I say paint by numbers) but review by their own experiences of hearing that tune played out for months on dubplate to then find it being released on one of the biggest labels in our scene just make it all seem very perfect. Unfortunately some old skoolers (I don't know if you are Wickedmarkonwax) wear rose tinted spectecules when it comes to the 'tunes they were into back in the day' to seem more hip now and that they were there when it all happended. This is a foundation hardcore jungle tune - Done!

Could not disagree with this review more. I'd love to have the time to waste to find out what you rate from this era if you think this is so terrible?!!

Gonna Be Alright (Cloud 9 Remix) is what its all about here that vocal and piano are simply amazing. is a mixers wet dream too with that four beat introplayed by everyone from Brisk and Stu Allan to Carl Cox and Grooverider

Im sorry but I am going to have to post comment on probably my favorite track of all time. Nookie in my mind is a genius, and the production he was pulling out the bag in the 92-94 erea was probrably he best we have ever had. The main track (although they are all stormers!) is 'Gonna Be Alright' or 'The Sound Of Music' as it is known by the Ravers. The tune first appeared, all be it a slightly different mix, on the 'Back to Detroit EP' under Nookie's Cloud 9 guise. The tune is just awesome! the piano riff, the lyris, just everything about it is perfect. 'Shining In Da Darkness' on the flip is another stormer, a little darker than Gonna Be Alright, but a classic on the pirate stations back in the day. Alltogehter one hell of a 12"!!!

Nookie-Phobia on Enforcers 5 pic disc is a storming track .
